Bengaluru: While in Sirsi, JDS senior leader and party campaign committee chief YSV Datta took the Congress party by surprise by stating that revenue minister R V Deshpande could have used his influence in the party to retain the Uttara Kannada Lok Sabha seat. “He could have retained the seat for the Congress by using is clout and influence in the party and arranging any other constituency for us,” said Datta.

Speaking to reporters in Sirsi town, he stated that the JDS is aware of its limited capacity in the Uttara Kannada constituency. “We never asked for Uttara Kannada. Instead, we asked for Mysuru. As the Congress party was not in a position to leave Mysuru, they gave Udupi-Chikkamagaluru and Uttara Kannada to us,” he said.

He then stated that the JDS aims to win in both the Uttara Kannada and Udupi-Chikkamagaluru Lok Sabha constituencies.
