Bengaluru: The Janata Dal (Secular) party has released a list of ten candidates who will be contesting the upcoming by-elections in 15 Assembly constituencies in Karnataka. Polling has been scheduled to be held on December 5.
The ten candidates fielded by the JD(S) party are: Devaraju from Krishnarajpet, Javarayi Gowda from Yeshwanthpur, Mallikarjun from Ranebennur, Anjappa Jatappa from Hirekerur, N M Nabi from Vijayanagar, K P Bache Gowda from Chikkaballapura, Krishna Murthy from Krishnarajapuram, C Somashekar from Hunsur, Tanveer Ahmed from Shivajinagar and Chaitra Gowda from Yellapur.
The JD(S) also announced that it will be backing independent candidate Sharat Bachegowda, who is contesting from the Hosakote segment. He will most likely be going up against M T B Nagaraj, who officially joined the BJP on Thursday, November 14.
Earlier in the day, 16 of the 17 disqualified MLAs, who had quit the Congress and JD(S), formally joined the BJP in the presence of Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa and state BJP chief Nalin Kumar Kateel.
