Bengaluru: The Jagathika Lingayat Mahasabha warned the State Water Resource Minister D K Shivakumar, here on Monday, April 15, to stay out of the Lingayat separate religion issue.
The warning comes as a reaction to DKShi’s statement that there should be religion in politics and not politics in religion.
The Jagathika Lingayat Mahasabha also opined that if the Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) could take decisions regarding the issues of Lingayat religion, why cannot Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) take one too.
The reason for Jagathika Lingayat Mahasabha raising this question with KPCC is because MPCC has already assured in writing that the people belonging to Lingayat religion would be conferred constitutional privileges and brought under the minority category.
The letter signed by centenarian Shree Dr. Shivalinga Shivacharya also favours the decision by MPCC President Ashok Shankarrao Chavan.
