Bengaluru: Reacting to BJP leader and chairperson of the Ambigara Chowdaiah Development Board Baburao Chinchansur’s statement that he is welcome to the BJP anytime, even stating that he would be made a Union Minister, former chief minister and CLP leader Siddaramaiah said that there is “no chance of joining the BJP”.
On Monday, March 9, Siddaramaiah took to Twitter to make his stance on the issue clear by making a series of tweets.
In the first tweet, he wrote, “Statements saying that I will be joining the BJP is nothing but foolishness. I have been in politics since my days as a student in the year 1972 and I have fought for social justice, equality, and the reservation system. The BJP is the exact opposite of all this. When such is the case, is it possible for me to join the BJP? Such publicity is nothing but heights of foolishness.”

Further, he wrote, “If an individual is sincerely following one ideology, then there is no question of changing political parties every now and then. Only opportunists go in search of power. In a democratic setup, power should be achieved by getting elected by the people and not by back-door politics.”

“I had asked the government to release Rs 500 crores for lift irrigation for the Badami Assembly Constituency. Even before the government gave it a nod, some BJP leaders began saying that they would give Rs 650 crores for irrigation purpose,” he said in a third tweet.
