Bengaluru: Former prime minister and Janata Dal (S) Supremo H D Deve Gowda has expressed his unhappiness over the Congress-Janata Dal (S) state coalition and said that he had no say in the coalition formation and that he had not suggested the formation of the coalition government.

Speaking to media here on Thursday, June 20, he said, “I am not worried about the Congress leaders showing their disgruntlement or complaining about the state coalition with their high command as I had never told them to join hands. All India Congress Committee (AICC) President Rahul Gandhi and Chief of the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Sonia Gandhi had sent veteran Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad to assess the situation after the hung verdict in 2018 Assembly elections. Later, the state Congress leaders came to us and said that they are willing to form the state coalition.”

“I had recommended veteran Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge’s name for the chief minister’s post, but they offered it to my son H D Kumaraswamy. Hence, I have no issues with the state coalition and the accusation on me that I have complained against state coalition with Rahul Gandhi is far from truth. I know this only through media. I will not react to it. It was a need of the hour for the Congress to form the government and we had not offered anything from our end”, he clarified.
