Bengaluru: Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa on Monday urged governing BJP legislators to focus on Covid management in their districts and helping the poor rather than engaging in signature campaigns or making political statements about his replacement.

“At a time when people are suffering from the Covid pandemic, every BJP legislator should make Covid control a top priority in their constituencies. I urge everyone to refrain from participating in any signature campaigns or making political statements, and instead to assist those who are in need “said Yediyurappa.

The Chief Minister’s remark came after a series of political remarks, including claims by his political secretary M P Renukacharya that he had a letter signed by more than 65 legislators in his favour.

However, state BJP president Nalin Kumar Kateel has formed a committee, according to Revenue Minister R Ashoka, to put a end to open expressions of resentment and statements on leadership change, which are bringing embarrassment to the party and the government.

Stating that the committee consists of state president, Chief Minister, four general secretaries, four Ministers, Ashoka, who is also part of the committee said, “it is with a purpose to clear confusion and stop open statements. Those with grievances can approach it.”

In the midst of speculation about a leadership change, Yediyurappa declared on Sunday that he will remain in the top post as long as the BJP high command has confidence in him, and that he has no concerns.
