Infant touches exposed illegal electrical wire, gets electrocuted to death

Bengaluru: In a heart-wrenching incident, an 8-month-old child was electrocuted in Kodihalli in the Jeevanbhima Nagar area of the city on Monday, May 13 night. The infant is the fourth child of a couple from Bihar, who migrated to the city in search of jobs.

According to the police, the couple stays with their children in a shed in Kodihalli and work at an apartment construction site. An illegal wire was connected to their shed for electricity and the insulating coating had peeled off in several places. On Monday, while playing, the toddler touched the wire and was electrocuted. “The child was rushed to a hospital in Indiranagar where it was declared brought dead,” the police informed.

According to sources, the family of six are staying in a 10×10 shed. The Jeevanbhimanagar police have registered a case against the contractor and the site engineer.
