Bengaluru: The Indian Medical Association (IMA) has given a call for a 24-hour shutdown, following which the outpatient services in hospitals and nursing homes in Karnataka will be affected from 6 AM on Friday to 6 AM on Saturday.
IMA Karnataka chapter president Dr Annadani Meti said that over 25,000 doctors across the state will support the bundh call given in solidarity with the striking doctors of Minto Eye Hospital in the city after a post graduate student was allegedly harassed by a pro-Kannada organisation. Doctors of the eye hospital have been on stir from Friday, ever since the episode.
The IMA has said that only emergency cases will be taken up during the day-long shut down.
