Bengaluru: A husband’s suspicion about the character of his wife ended in her gruesome murder in Laggere in Bengaluru on Thursday, July 19.
Jagadish (46) and his wife Soumya (29) moved to Bengaluru a year ago. The couple left behind their five-year-old son in Mysuru in the care of his grandmother.
Jagadish had a nagging suspicion that Soumya had an illicit affair with one of her friends. Both often quarrelled about this issue. Sources said, Soumya spent hours at a time texting and talking on her mobile phone which further aggravated Jagadish’s mistrust.
The police said that, on the night of the murder, Jagadish again argued with his wife about her long phone call. The argument turned violent when Jagadish, in a fit of rage, hit Soumya’s face making her lose balance and fall on the floor. He strangled her with his foot, police said.
Jagadish then walked into the nearby police station, confessed to the crime and surrendered himself to the police. The police who reached the crime spot rushed the victim to the hospital where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
Jagadish was produced before the magistrate and remanded to judicial custody.
