Hunting goes awry: Madikeri man dies in misfiring by friend

Madikeri: A man was shot dead in an incident of misfiring that took place in Hemmatalu village of Madikeri.

The deceased is Ayyakuttira Ranjith Machaiah (31) from Hemmatalu. The accused is Kademanda Dinesh from the same village.

It is said that the duo had ventured into the forest on Sunday late night to hunt and when Dinesh set his target assuming that a deer may be in front of him, the bullet accidentally hit Ranjith killing the latter on the spot.

Madikeri Rural police visited the spot and registered a case against Dinesh.
