Bengaluru: Following a surge in demand for the English medium classes that were started in 970 government upper primary schools of the state, the Department of Public Instruction (DPI) has decided to introduce additional classes.
According to the directions issued by Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy, who also heads the education department, as per the original decision, admission in an English medium class (Class I) was fixed at 30 students. “As the number of applications is increasing, it has been decided to start an additional class in all the schools where the number of applications is high,” informed the DPI authorities.
The state government decided to launch English medium classes in 970 schools across the state to save schools from poor enrollment. Following the introduction of these classes, there has been a surge in admissions across the state. This trend has now forced the department to increase the number of sections.
