Bengaluru: All that they ever hoped for was their own house and when the dream was about to materialise, things took an ugly turn, leaving their hopes shattered like a castle of glass.
With helplessness gripping them, four from the same family ended their lives.
A shocking suicide tale of Janardhana (52), Sumithra (48), their daughter Sudharani (29) and granddaughter Sonica (6) at their rented house in Vidyaranyapura, Bengaluru has shaken the area.
The family had paid Rs 25 lakh to an agent to purchase a house that they had finalised. However, to their bad luck, the agent died in an accident while carrying the cash, which mysteriously went missing from the site.
Dejected by the development, all the four ended their lives.
Janardhana and his family were residing at New BEL road in Vidyaranyapura of the city. Janardhana ran a medical shop and wanted to buy a house. “He borrowed Rs 25 lakhs from a few persons to pay the advance for a new house. The agent died in an accident. Fearing that they can’t repay the loan and realising that the dream of owning a home has shattered, they may have committed suicide,” police suspected.
“They committed suicide a few days ago. The incident came to light only when foul smell started emanating from the house. They left a death note in which they mentioned about the financial issues. They committed suicide by consuming sleeping tablets,” informed the police.
