Bengaluru: Banashankari police arrested a woman from Bengaluru for allegedly reserving a hotel room in the name of IPS officer D Roopa in Uttara Pradesh.
According to the city police, the arrested woman is 52-year-old resident of Mangaluru.
“She is declining any such hotel reservation. So we have released her on bail,” said police.
“She was a former employee of Indian Posts. At the time of the incident, she had lodged a complaint with the Pandeshwar police in Mangaluru stating that her mobile was stolen.
But the IMEI number she mentioned in the theft complaint and mobile she allegedly used to book the hotel is the same. She is not saying anything about booking a hotel room,” added police.
According to the police, in the last week of December 2018, a hotel room was booked in the name of D Roopa in a Lucknow, capital of Uttar Pradesh.
“Rooms were booked for dates between December 29 and January 3, 2019. When Roopa didn’t turn up to occupy the room, hotel staff called Roopa. At that time, the incident came to light,” said police.
