Bengaluru: Independent MLA from Hosakote Sharat Bachchegowda, son of Chikkaballapura MP, BJP leader Bachche Gowda will join Congress on February 26.
His entry into Congress was opposed by a section of local Congress leaders. However, KPCC president DK Shivakumar is now able to resolve all these differences.
Both DK Shivakumar and former CM Siddaramaiah will participate in the event in which Sharath will join Congress.
Sharat Bachchegowda had defeated BJP candidate MTB Nagaraj, a turn coat leader in 2019 Hosakote assembly by election, as an independent candidate. Even though he tried to join the BJP initially, CM BS Yediyurappa didn’t allow as he contested in the by election against his wish.
In the 2018 state assembly election Sharat contested as BJP candidate from Hosakote and was defeated by MTB Nagaraj who was a Congress leader. But a year later, things are changing with Nagaraj joining BJP as part of Operation Kamala.
