Bengaluru: After Mysuru-Kodagu MP Prathap Simha resorted to making statements defending Prime Minister Modi not responding to the flood-hit state of Karnataka, senior Congress leaders have suggested to the MP to stay away from playing what is called a ‘budget politics’.

HK Patil and Eshwar Khandre have said that the people of the state, at least two lakh of them have been rendered homeless due to the floods and instead of standing by the people, the MP is making all possible attempts to please Modi with flattering statements.
“The northern regions of Karnataka have been devastated by the floods about two months ago. People are waiting for help. It is said that property over Rs One lakh crore has been lost in the flood. The farmers are in deep trouble. The opposition has been constantly raising this issue because we are asking for what rightfully belongs to us,” Khandre and Patil said attacking the MP, who has equated Modi to God and said that talking ill about Modi is just like talking ill about God and that people who spit at the sky should know that the spit will fall on them.
Raking up the issue of the PM denying even an appointment to Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa, who had gone to New Delhi to meet him over flood relief issues, the two leaders said, “If you consider him as a God, we have no problem, but a PM who is not sensitive enough to understand distressed people’s pain cannot be a God,” they said.
