Bengaluru: The Kannada Development Authority (KDA) has issued show cause notice to the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation (BMRCL) for using Hindi signboards in all its stations and making announcements in Hindi.

In his letter to the BMRCL MD Pradeep Singh Kharola, Prof. SG Siddaramaiah, chairman, KDA informed that using signboards in Hindu and making announcements in the same language is against the basic principles of various state legislation. Kharola has been directed to furnish details within next seven days else it will be considered the same as dereliction of duty.

Meanwhile, Kannada Rakshana Vedike (KRV) is holding city wide protest on Friday in front of all the metro stations against the use of Hindi language.
