Bengaluru: Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy’s chartered accountant’s (CA) home and office have been raided for the second time in three months by the income tax department. During the raid that began on August 21, the CA, HB Sunil was not permitted to leave his office till August 22.
HB Sunil maintains the accounts of the CM and his family members which includes handling of all personal and business investments. The CA’s home and office were previously raided back in May, during the Assembly elections. Considering that it has been a mere three months since his place of residence and work were raided by the IT department, it has given rise to suspicions that this move could be politically motivated.
A senior police officer, however, said that Sunil has been under the IT department’s scanner for a while now and that warning of possible raids had been given to the CM’s assistant.
