Bengaluru: Janata Dal (S) State Chief H D Kumaraswamy on December 15 has alleged that an anchor of a leading Kannada channel has been threatening him for money and also trying to destroy his reputation.

Speaking to reporters, HDK said, “Ranganath Bharadhwaj, anchor of Kannada news channel ‘TV9’ had invited me to a panel discussion few days ago. During the discussion, the anchor shot unwanted questions which enraged me and following which I had stepped out of the panel discussion. But the anchor has recorded my abusive language used during the discussion and it has gone viral on social media. The anchor by leaking the audio on social media, has launched a malicious campaign to destroy my reputation and I will file a criminal case against him. He has been threatening me with a demand for money and I have the audio tape.”

He further agreed that he had lost his cool and used abusive language. “In rural areas we use such words. But the anchor has warned me of finishing my political career by using the particular audio tape”, he added.

He also advised media persons to act responsibly.

Meanwhile, HDK also lashed out at the state government for its delay in taking action regarding communal clashes in various parts of the state.
