Bengaluru: As all the attempts by the Janata Dal (S) leaders and its Supremo H D Deve Gowda have failed to convince A H Vishwanath to continue as the state president of the party, a decision would be taken on appointing a successor in the next four days.
Addressing the media on Monday, June 24 at his party office in the city, HDD said that he would not accept the resignation of Vishwanath and that he would make him handover the powers to the newly appointed state president by giving away the party flag.
According to reports, JDS leaders Y S V Dutta and Madhu Bangarappa are said to be in the race and Vishwanath is expected to support Madhu.
Meanwhile, on Vishwanath’s request to the party on making Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy the party’s state president, HDD said, “In JDS, an individual will handle only one post. I do not blame or criticise Vishwanath for his request. It is not wrong but the party has decided to stand by its policy of handing over only one responsibility to each of its leader.”
