Bengaluru: Former prime minister H D Devegowda and former chief minister Siddaramaiah met and offered support to famous theatre artist and activist Prasanna, who is carrying out a hunger strike outside the Gandhi Bhavan, Bengaluru, on Wednesday, October 9.

Prasanna is undertaking a hunger strike in protest against the Central Government’s economic policies. Demanding relief for the handmade goods sector, this is the third day of the theatre artist’s hunger strike. ‘Create Jobs and Protect Nature’ is also one of the agendas of the satyagraha.

Terming it the “sacred economy”, Prasanna had said that the government’s economic policies hurt the handmade goods sector.

Speaking to New Indian Express, he said, “The current economic system is bad. We need to have a system that strikes a balance between nature and entrepreneurship. My demand is to give jobs and to keep the nature green.”

Members of the Gram Seva Sangh have also been organising programmes to draw attention towards the damage caused to the “sacred economy”.
