Bengaluru: Former Prime Minister and Janata Dal (Secular) supremo H D Deve Gowda on Tuesday announced that state party president H D Kumaraswamy will contest from both Ramanagaram and Channapatna.
Announcing the decision at the JD(S) rally in Channapatna, which was attended by Kumaraswamy’s wife Anita too, Gowda said, “We have decided to field Kumaraswamy from both the constituencies bowing to the demand from the electorate in the two constituencies.”
The decision is being seen as an assertive action to keep up Gowda’s assurance that only two members of his family — Kumaraswamy and H D Revanna — would be given ticket to contest in the Assembly election to blunt the criticism of JD(S) being a party of father and sons.
Addressing the rally, Gowda listed the development works implemented by H D Kumaraswamy government and accused national parties Congress and BJP of total failure in protecting the interest of Karnataka farmers. H D Kumaraswamy in his address, promised to waive RS. 51,000-crore farm loans of the farmers within 24 hours if JD(S) is voted to power.
