Bengaluru: After sidelining disqualified MLA R Shankar by giving a ticket to Arun Kumar for the by-polls, Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa has clarified that Shankar will be given a ministerial berth.

It can be recalled that earlier today, the BJP had given a ticket to Kumar to contest from the Ranebennur Assembly segment in the by-polls scheduled to be held on December 5.

It was reported that Shankar’s unhappy supporters had staged a protest in front of BSY’s residence after it was announced that Kumar would be contesting from Ranebennur instead of their leader, who is a former legislator from the segment.

BSY then explained that he had spoken to Shankar about the decision. “He (Shankar) agreed to support whichever candidate is contesting. I have promised to make him an MLC and a cabinet minister,” the CM said.

He added that Kumar would be contesting from Ranebennur and that he will win. “Once the situation is calm, the people will accept him,” Yediyurappa added.
