Bengaluru: After violating the JD(S) party’s whip to stay away from casting votes in the legislative council polling held today for just one seat, JDS MLA GT Devegowda has now come out in open and said that he has cast vote in favour of BJP’s candidate, DCM Laxman Savadi.

The voting for one MLC seat was held on Monday morning and all the JDS MLAs were asked to refrain from voting after JDS backed candidate Anil Kumar resigned at the last moment from contesting the polls, making it a cakewalk for Laxman Savadi to win the polls and remain in the position of the DCM.

However, on Monday morning, the JDS leaders were all out for a shock when they saw GTD walk into polling booth escorted by the minister for Tourism CT Ravi, cast votes and then straight away head to greet CM BS Yediyurappa and DCM Laxman Savadi.

Soon speculations were rife that JDS loyalist GTD had cross voted and now, within few hours of casting the vote, GTD himself has laid all speculations to rest by confirming that he has voted in favour of Savadi.

GTD is quoted in news18 saying that his party never specified to him whom he can vote for. ” I had no instructions from the party. In such a situation I voted for Savadi,” said GTD openly.

Responding to the statement of former CM and JDS leader HD Kumaraswamy that he doesn’t know if GTD is in JDS or in the BJP, GTD retorted saying that he is in Chamundeshwari Assembly segment as a JDS MLA.
