Bengaluru: The state energy department increased the electricity price again. Starting from October 1, a unit will cost 14 paise more.
According to a circular issued by the energy department, all the electricity companies are directed to charge 14 paise more on the domestic users to adjust the increasing cost. “This is the result of the increased expenses of power production. If the cost of power production increase further, the government too may shoot up the tariff,” said an officer.
It can be recalled that the electricity prices were increased in the month of May by a whopping 15 to 35 paisa per unit.
“We are left with no option. The state government is not in a position to reimburse any costs incurred by the electricity companies. So the escoms need to pass the burden on the customers for survival,” said an officer who wished to be unnamed.
