Bengaluru: When Siddaramaiah was the chief minister, his government was criticised for proposing door delivery of liquor. The proposal was dropped following widespread criticism. But now, the same proposal has got a new lease on life with excise minister and independent MLA H Nagesh announcing that his department is ready to introduce the scheme.
“Door delivery of liquor will be done only for those customers who have been issued permits by the respective district Deputy Commissioners,” he said.
“We are planning to supply liquor like how milk is delivered to the houses,” he added.
He also stated that the government is planning to open mobile liquor shops in the Lambani tandas to ensure that the people don’t drink spurious liquor which is dangerous for their health.
Over the last few years, the revenue from selling liquor has increased by 10% and has helped the state government take up developmental works, he added.
