Bengaluru: Mahalakshmi Layout MLA Gopalaiah of Janata Dal (S) has written a letter to Assembly Speaker K B Koliwad about adding the Tulu language in the 8th schedule of the Constitution.

He has decided to move a private member’s bill in this regard.

As per tradition, every Thursday, members can move a private member’s bill.

Seeking permission to move a private member’s bill, Gopalaiah informed that Tulu is the mother tongue of more than 25 lakh people. He also stated that there was a need for the state assembly to intervene in this regard.

Gopalaiah also sought permission to move another private member’s bill requesting the union finance ministry to direct IBPS to hold banking examinations in Kannada.
