Bengaluru: The BBMP standing committee on finance has decided to forward a resolution requesting the state government to press union finance ministry to allocate 25% of the GST collected from the city to BBMP.

In meeting of the standing committee held on Saturday evening it was decided to urge the state government to either ensure additional revenue or convince the GST council to allocate 25% of the tax collected in the city to BBMP.

According to the BBMP officials, after the introduction of GST, corporation’s income has come down as all the taxes are merged with CGST and SGST. “So both central and state governments must compensate the BBMP,” stated in the BBMP resolution.
