Bengaluru: It seems there is no end to the controversies surrounding the elite Maharani Women’s College of the city. Now Department of Collegiate Education (DCE) has decided to issue show cause notice to the college principal Shantha Kumari for allegedly giving one day’s holiday on September 1 to allow the students to watch Mugulunage movie starring Goldern Star Ganesh.

However, the principal has denied the allegations.

It can be recalled that recently college had suspended a Kannada professor under the charges of sexual harassment and now, the college is in New again.

All started with Ganesh attending Ganesha chathurthi celebrations in the college on August 31, a day before the release of the Mugulunage movie and requested all the students to watch the movie on day 1. Students requested him to get them a day’s leave to watch the movie.

College administration announced holiday for college on September 1 stating that it was a ‘rest day’ for students who worked hard on August 31 for Ganesha chathurthi. Issue was blown out of proportion by a group of faculty who lodged complained to DCE stating principal has given a holiday to watch Mugulunage movie. Based on the complaint now the DCE issued show cause notice to the principal Shantha Kumari.

Shantha Kumari informed that every year a day after the Ganesha chathurthi celebrations, a day’s holiday was given to the students. “A group wants to target me,” she alleged.
