French Aerospace company Thales to create jobs in Bengaluru

Bengaluru: French multinational company, Thales Group, is expected to create thousands of jobs in Bengaluru in the next three to five years in the civil and defence sectors. According to sources, the company seeks to localise Research and Development (R&D) activities in India and favour manufacturing in the country.

Thales has been providing aerospace solutions to the Indian defence industry for decades. The company announced the launch of Global Engineering Competence Centre in Bengaluru, on February 19. P Satish Menon who has an experience of over 30 years in the industry has been appointed as the head of the centre. The executive board members of Thales are expected to hold talks with officials of government agencies on February 22, at AeroIndia.

The centre will be dedicated to value-added systems in the fields of Air Traffic Management, avionics, cockpit, flight management, in-flight entertainment and connectivity systems, radar software, airborne Intelligence Surveillance and reconnaissance tactical management systems. It will also focus efforts on advanced hardware technology such as radio frequency designs for radars and communication equipment, high performance processing units and in airborne digital processing functions.

The French Aerospace company has released a statement which reads, “With the ECC, Thales seeks to play a major role in job creation and skill development in India as it targets to hire 3,000 engineers in the next three-five years along with its partners. It is a first-of-its-kind Engineering Competence Centre in India focusing on software and hardware capabilities in the areas of civil as well as defence businesses, serving Thales’s global needs.”

Pascale Sourisse, Thales’ senior executive vice-president of international development, said that India is an innovative country with a great pool of skilled engineers.

“The Global Engineering Competence Centre in Bengaluru is uniquely positioned to serve all domains that Thales operates in and cater to worldwide markets. With our plans of hiring over 3,000 engineers in the coming years, we look forward to significantly contributing to the ‘Skill India’ initiative and innovation in the country,” said Pascale Sourisse.
