Senior party leaders including MLAs, MLCs and defeated candidates of the party in the assembly election 2018 attended the meeting. Gowda discussed the party organization and strength.

According to the party leaders, Gowda has asked them to submit feedback from the voters on the fortunes of the party if he contests in the election.

If Deve Gowda contests as the coalition candidate, union minister DV Sadananda Gowda will face tough competition. Presently, this constituency is represented by DVS who migrated from Mangaluru to Bengaluru.
