Bengaluru: Former prime minister and JDS supremo, H D Devegowda will contest from the Tumakuru Lok Sabha constituency. He will face BJP veteran G S Basavaraju, a former MP who belongs to another upper caste Lingayat community.
A decision in this regard was taken at a meeting held at HDD’s residence in Padmanabhanagar. Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy and other senior leaders were present at the meeting.
All three MLAs from the district were also present at the meeting. Reportedly, HDD has decided to submit his nomination papers on March 25.
