Bengaluru: Former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda is likely to contest from Hassan Lok Sabha constituency. Earlier, it was announced that Gowda may contest either from Tumakuru or Bengaluru North Lok Sabha constituency.
It can be recalled that the JDS announced Prajwal Revanna, younger son of PWD minister Revanna as the candidate from Hassan. Deve Gowda is the incumbent MP from Hassan constituency.
According to the JDS sources, with the BJP announcing ticket for A Manju, a former minister and Congress strongman, the JDS is reconsidering its decision of fielding Prajwal. “Prajwal is no a match for A Manju. Senior Gowda doesn’t want to lose the constituency,” said a JDS leader from Hassan, who wished to be unnamed.
According to the JDS sources, if Prajwal is not given ticket from Hassan, it is expected to create more rifts in the Gowda family. “But no one knows what is running in Gowda’s mind,” he said.
