Former minister C Chennigappa passed away

chenni mBengaluru: Former minister C Chennigapppa passed away in a private hospital of the city on Friday. He was 76-years-old.

Chennigappa, who hailed from Byranayakanahalli of Nelamangala taluk was the forest minister in BJP-JDS coalition government in 2006-07. He served as a MLA for three terms.

A controversial figure in the JDS state unit, Chennigappa started his career as a police constable. Later he quit the job and joined politics.

His son Gowrishankar is a MLA from Tumakuru rural constituency.

For last one year, Chennigappa was batling multi organ complications.

CM Yediyurappa, former CM HD Kumaraswamy condoled his death.
