Former IPS Officer Annamalai to contest TN Assembly polls

Bengaluru: It is official now. Former IPS officer, who served Karnataka for over ten years including sensitive Chikkamagalur and Udupi districts as the Superintendent of Police and as DCP of Bengaluru South division has announced his political ambition.

In a Facebook live on Sunday evening, he announced that he will contest in the upcoming Tamil Nadu state assembly election, which will be held in April 2021.

Annamalai, who started his speech by citing Miss you Karnataka stated that he has started ground work for contesting in the election. 

“There is an urgent need for changing the political system in our society. I want to spend some time with my family. I want to create a free and conducive environment for all to work freely,” he stated.

It can be recalled that Annamalai quit his job last year citing personal reasons. Since then it is speculated that he may join politics. He is likely to be the BJP face in the state, say may.
