Bengaluru: Former CM Siddaramaiah apologised to the Kodavas after his statement on beef-eating offended the community.
In a tweet, he stated that if Kodavas were hurt by his statement, he apologizes. “I have great respect for Kodavas,” he stated.
He informed that his statement was misinterpreted by the media.
My statement about Beef & Kodava culture has been misinterpreted by the media. I regret if that has hurt the sentiments of Kodavas.

On Friday while participating in a Congress election campaign in Mysuru, former CM Siddaramaiah made a controversial statement saying that people belonging to all the castes eat beef. He also mentioned the Kodavas in his speech. His statement has led to a massive controversy and the Kodavas are planning stir on December 21.
Several Congress leaders have also expressed their anger against Siddaramaiah’s statement.
