Bengaluru: The Central Crime Branch (CCB)-Women and Narcotics Wing has arrested a citizen of Ivory Coast on charges of peddling drugs in the city.

The accused identified as Toure Mustafa (44) was residing in a rented house at Chikkanna Layout near Hennur along with his wife. He had also rented another house to store marijuana, which he bought from his associates in Andhra Pradesh and Kerala.

Sources from the police said that Mustafa came to India on a business visa in 2015 and was previously arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau. It is said that after getting bail in the previous case he went back to his old ways of selling drugs.

He posed as a cloth merchant to his neighbours and secretly sold marijuana to the locals. Students and youth from the slums were his main targets for selling the banned substance.

The team led by ACP Shobha S Khatavkar raided the suspect’s houses on Thursday, March 14, and arrested him with 32 kg of marijuana. The seized marijuana is worth Rs 15 lakh in the international market.

Two of his associates have managed to escape during the raids and the police have laid a trap to nab the culprits.
