Bengaluru: Koramangala police registered a case against Sachin Bansal, founder and former CEO of Flipkart under various provisions of dowry prohibition act based on a complaint lodged by his wife Priya Bansal.
According to the Koramangala police sources, an FIR in this regard was registered on February 28.
His father, mother and brother also have been named in the FIR.
Priya and Sachin got married in 2008 and the couple has a son.
Priya, in her complaint alleged that Sachin is torturing her physically and mentally, demanding dowry and also pressurising her to transfer the properties that are registered in her name.
Priya is a dentist, who runs a clinic in Bengaluru, while Bansal is currently CEO of Navi Technologies, an investment company.
Police informed that after an investigation, further action will be initiated.
Sachin Bansal yet to respond to these allegations.
It may be recalled that in 2018, Bansal held 5.5 per cent stake in Flipkart, which he sold off to Walmart and his net worth then was a little over $1 billion.
In May 2018, Bansal announced that after stepping down as the Executive Chairman of Flipkart, he would be focusing on pending personal projects, gaming and brushing up his coding skills.
