Bengaluru: After several years of delay, finally, the BBMP is all set to take up the first ever tree census in Bengaluru city. The forest cell of the BBMP is planning to use the services of the likeminded NGOs, volunteers for the purpose.
According to the authorities, Rs. 1 crores has been allocated for the tree census. “We are planning to take up the tree census soon. The works on the project are getting ready. We need to train the NGOs and volunteers before involving them in the census work,” said Cholaraj, DFO, BBMP forest cell.
According to the sources, the plan is to complete the survey works before the end of the summer season. “It is planned to create a separate profile about all the trees,” explained an officer privy to the development.
