Final rites of martyr H Guru held at Mellahalli near KM Doddi in Maddur

Bengaluru: The final rites of the martyr H Guru was held in Mellahalli in KM Doddi hobli in Maddur taluk on Saturday night. Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy, his cabinet colleagues including DCM Dr G Parameshwar, union minister DV Sadananda Gowda, former CM SM Krishna, and others attended the final rites and offered their last respect to the mortal remains of the soldier.

The mortal remains of the soldier, which was brought in a military vehicle from HAL airport through Zero traffic were kept for the public homage in front of the soldier’s residence at Gudigere. Enroute thousands of people waited for hours together to offer their respect to the martyr.

Inconsolable Kalavati, the martyr’s wife said one final goodbye to her husband through a salute before collapsing. The pyre was lit amid state honours, including a gun salute.

Actor Prakash Rai attended the funeral procession and the final rites. Before leaving the village he was heckled by a group of youths, which was avoided by the alert police.
