Bengaluru: It seems like the state government has received a break from the recent farmers’ protests demanding fair price for sugarcane as they have agreed to give the government 15 days’ time to fulfill their demands.

A decision in this regard was taken at a meeting between Cooperative Minister Bandeppa Kashampur and the farmers’ leaders led by K T Gangadhar.

Earlier, thousands of farmers from across the state had gathered at Freedom Park, urging the government to fulfill their demands immediately.

Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy’ had made two statements on Sunday- one calling those who gate crashed into the Suvarna Soudha in Belagavi ‘goondas’ and the other asking a women agitator where she was sleeping all these years. Both his statements had enraged the people and caused further turmoil.

Sensing that the situation is getting out of hand, the state government requested the farmers for 15 days’ time to resolve all their issues.
