Bengaluru: BBMP Mayor Gangambika lodged a complaint against two Facebook users for spreading fake news about her decision regarding the celebration of the Ganesha festival.

Based on her complaint filed with city police commissioner Alok Kumar, the police have registered a case against the two.

The BBMP launched several initiatives like a ban on idols made out of Plaster of Paris, (PoP) etc., as part of the awareness drive for the Ganesha Chaturthi festival which will be celebrated in the month of August. It also requested the people to install community idols to create communal harmony.

The two accused, however, spread false news that the BBMP is declining permission for the installation of Ganesha idols and claimed that the BBMP Mayor is anti-Hindu.

Irked by this, Mayor Gangambika met the city police commissioner and lodged a complaint.

One of the accused named in the FIR runs his FB profile under the name “Modi Bhakta”.
