Bengaluru: Based on the complaint lodged by the office of the Chief Minister, and the office of the chief secretary, the Vidhana Soudha police registered a case against a couple who had furnished fake medical bills to get money under the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.
According to the police sources, on February 20, a couple-Channappa and Sunandamma met the CM during the Janata Darshan programme and requested him for financial support to foot medical bills. They had submitted medical bills in the name of a prestigious hospital of the city.
As the bill was not in the stipulated format the officers of the CMO developed suspicion and sent a team to the hospital where it was found that documents were all bogus. Based on the findings, the authorities moved to the Vidhana Soudha police and registered a complaint. The police registered an FIR under various provisions of the IPC including section 420.
