Bengaluru: The Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) informed the Karnataka High Court that opportunity would be provided to the students, who joined the engineering course before the implementation of Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) and yet to clear all the subjects, in One Time Exit Scheme (OTES). This development has provided a brief relief to more than 400 anxious students in the state.

During the proceedings on the petition filed by V Amit of Honnavalli in Tipatur taluk and other students, the judicial bench lead by Justice Vineet Kottari, received a memo submitted by the VTU on this issue. The judicial bench registered the memo and solved the petition by directing the VTU to allow the students to write the exams for the pending subjects of last semester. The students, who migrated from another system to CBCS, will be allowed to write the exam.

The VTU, in its memo, informed that according to the university notification dated 13 September 2017, students who opt for CBCS should continue in the same till the end of the course. Students can write exams for the pending subjects on April 9 under One Time Exit System.

On April 3, the High Court came down heavily on the VTU and directed it to clear the confusion on the CBCS system.
