Bengaluru: Well-known scientist and Bharata Ratna CNR Rao observed that electric vehicles were not alternatives for petrol or diesel vehicles. “Instead we need to work towards hydrogen-powered vehicles,” he stated.
Interacting with the media in the city, he said that lithium and cobalt were required for electric-powered vehicles. “These two minerals are available only in China and the Congo Republic. So, to ensure that we do not become dependent on these two countries, we need to research and develop hydrogen cells,” he said.
He also asked youngsters to join research teams. “In Israel, Nano Nose has been developed to diagnose breast cancer. Such research must be carried out in India also,” he added.
