Bengaluru: There seem to be many controversies circling state energy minister D K Shivakumar and it looks like one of them may land the minister in some serious trouble.

It has recently come to light that the enforcement directorate (ED) is making an FIR against DKShi and sources say that the minister may be taken into custody for questioning by the ED on Monday. The ED’s move is reportedly related to the recovery of Rs 4 crore from a flat owned by DKShi in New Delhi.

If found guilty by the court, the minister can be sentenced to jail time for up to seven years.

The minister’s brother, MP DK Suresh has come out in defence of his brother, produced a letter allegedly written by state BJP president BS Yeddyurappa to the income tax department against DKShi and claimed that this was an attempt made by the central and state BJP leadership to try and topple the coalition government. He also said that he has sought an appointment with the Prime Minister to discuss the issue of the gross misuse of the ED by certain individuals for their personal motives.

BSY has denied the allegations made by Suresh against him, stating instead that the letter produced by Suresh is fake. Members of the BJP, backing BSY, have also said that the letter is fake, pointing out various anomalies in the letter.

Regarding the case, DKShi has stated that he received no communication from the income tax department regarding the matter and added that he was prepared to face the BJP if they want to use money and power to play politics.
