Bengaluru: EnviGreen Biotech India has been manufacturing biodegradable plastic which dissolve easily in hot water and sand. Now these products invented by the said company are available in the markets here.
The Bengaluru office of the company was relaunched on Monday March 1 by Union minister Sadananda Gowda.
The company has launched the product with the aim of making the earth greener and to spread awareness on the harmful effects of plastic on the environment.
“This is the first time in India that a company has found the technology to produce 100% organic and biodegradable plastic bags,” said Ashwatha Hegde, founder and managing director or EnviGreen Biotech. He further added that the plastic can be dissolved in water and this water can be used as a fertilizer for plants.
Even though the product looks like plastic, no conventional plastic has been used in its production, he further said. There handbags are made of natural starches and vegetable oil products. They withstand weights from half a kg to 15 kg. They burn like paper and consumers can use them without any worry or guilt.
The company has introduced this product as part of ‘Make in India’ concept and gathers all its raw materials from local sources. They are also doing export of the product.
Minister for Co-operation ST Smoashekar, Tejaswini Ananthkumar, Ravi Hegade, Jaya Prakash Shetty and others were also present at the relaunch.
