Reports of people facing health issues due to withdrawal symptoms have been surfaced from various parts of the state.

Several suicides have also been linked to non-availability of alcohol and with this, the government is reportedly thinking over making liquor available in the state by allowing the sales for a few hours in the day.

The excise department has made a proposal to allow sale of liquor between 10am and 1pm if the lockdown is extended beyond April 14 and the CM will take the final call, said sources.

The sale of liquor, which is the seconf highest mone-spinner, after commercial tax for the state exchequer was banned in the state on March 21.

However, it is not yet clear if the lockdown will be lifted in the state on April 14 and the CM has clearly stated that the decision on these lines now completely depends on how well the people of the state adhere to the lockdown guidelines.

The cases of Coronavirus is only shooting north in the state and amidst this, many say that the decision of opening the liquor shops will only add to the probems.
