Bengaluru: The Department of Public Instruction (DPI) has decided to start four training centres for English medium teachers across the state.
The decision to start these centres was taken up in a recent meeting of the department officials.
“The state government has launched the English medium of instruction from class I in over 1,000 schools across the state. Adding to this, the English medium has been introduced in Karnataka Public Schools. There are plans to introduce LKG in these schools. At the time of hiring, however, only Kannada medium teachers are joining the department. We are planning to set up English medium teacher training centres as a solution to this problem,” the authorities informed.
“These centres are proposed to be set up in Bengaluru, Belagavi, Kalaburugi and Mysuru,” the sources added.
