Bengaluru: In a stern advisory to all the deemed to be universities in the state in general and Christ (deemed to be University) in specific, the state government has asked them not to hold the examinations for the intermediate semesters/years.
The move comes in after the students staged a stir against the examinations that the Christ institute is holding online.
The government, had recently said that all the private and public universities under the higher education department will hold only final examination for final year students by end of September, either online or offline mode.
As per this order, the students in their intermediate semesters were to be promoted to higher semesters based on grading system constituting 50 per cent internal evaluation and 50 per cent marks based on performance in the previous semester.
After the students of the Christ deemed to be University staged a protest couple of days ago, an official communication was released on July 10 by the Christ (deemed-to-be-university), which said: “It is hereby clarified that the said order pertains to conduct of examinations in the state and private universities coming under the Department of Higher Education, Government of Karnataka. CHRIST (Deemed to be University) is guided by the UGC regulations and guidelines and as such the examinations scheduled from July 13 as per the decision of the university in accordance with the UGC guidelines will be conducted as per the schedule announced.”
