dkshi govBengaluru: Congress troubleshooter and president of the party’s Karnataka unit, D K Shivakumar urged the Director-General of Police on Wednesday, March 18, to provide police protection to the party MLAs from Madhya Pradesh who are lodged in Bengaluru.

During his meeting with the DGP, DKShi demanded that the BJP workers be removed from the Bengaluru hotel where the rebel MP MLAs are housed.

Briefing the reporters after the meeting, Shivakumar said that the protection must be given to the Madhya Pradesh MLAs as they have asked for the same. “Let the police give them protection. Our candidate (Digvijaya Singh) has come, let him meet the legislators,” he said.

Questioning why the BJP workers are protecting the rebel Congress MLAs, the KPCC chief said, “We are aware that they (MP MLAs) are under threat. That is why we need to vacate them (BJP workers).”

DKShi added that he spoke to the DGP about removing the BJP workers from the hotel. “We will protect our men. They should be in a free and fair position,” he said.

It can be recalled that 21 Madhya Pradesh Congress MLAs are lodged at the Ramada Hotel in Bengaluru. While the BJP claims that the MLAs resigned and came to Bengaluru freely after Jyotiraditya Scindia’s split from the Congress, the Congress claims that the legislators are being held against their will.
